The EU Drone Certificate is valid for a limited period of five years. After this period, you must renew your certificate to continue flying legally within the EU—both recreationally and professionally. Renewing on time prevents fines, downtime during commercial operations, and unnecessary risks during drone flights.
You can renew your EU Drone Certificate from three months before the expiry date.
If your certificate has already expired, renewal is no longer possible and you must retake the full exam for all categories in which you wish to continue flying.
Currently, there are two ways to renew your EU Drone Certificate:
Renew by retaking the same exam in full
Renew by obtaining a drone certificate in a higher category
Is your EU Drone Certificate about to expire? At Drone Flight Academy, you don’t just renew — we offer you a free upgrade of your certificate!
This way, you not only extend your validity period but also immediately expand your skills and possibilities as a drone pilot.
At Drone Flight Academy, we don’t just renew your current certificate — we also offer you a free upgrade to A2 (for pilots holding A1/A3) or to STS (for pilots holding A2). This gives you the opportunity to advance to more flying possibilities within the Open category or even progress into the Specific category, all at no additional cost!
